On the National Flag of Nepal

Some Nepali people think the current national flag of Nepal, triangular and only such in the world, needs to be changed while others think it’s unique and it’s okay. UWB received an article by Prakash Bom about the necessity of the new flag and a photo of “a model flag for the People’s Republic of Nepal” from Shree Shrestha.

new flag for nepal I wish the Nepali leaderships had spoken about the need of a new national flag for a new democratic Nepal before the elections of the constituent assembly. I dream of a national flag of the peaceful stars on the horizon of the summit of Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) for new democratic Nepal. The number of peaceful stars will get derived from the restructuring of the state under the Federal Democratic government system.

First of all the people did not choose the current national flag, but accepted for granted as given by the feudal oligarchic regimes to lay the Hindu patriotic values. Many of us are caught up with its unique shape without realizing its connotations with the Hindu nationalism that sustains on the royalist values.

We have decided to change the national anthem (article on English). We have suspended the monarchy. We are about to print our national currency with the pillar of national glory – the Sagarmatha. It is time for new democratic Nepal to think over changing the national flag that can symbolize our true nationalism and the value.

Our nationalism rises up to the pinnacle of the Mount Everest and our national values and pride reach to the glory of Buddha, Ansubarma, Bhirkuti and Arniko. That is how Nepal has been recognized and appreciated in the world. On the glory of our true nationalism and pride we have to begin building our new prosperous democratic Nepal.

Our new democratic national flag must be able to embrace our diverse ethnicity, culture, religions, gender, and inhabitance of different geographical regions with the promise to guarantee our civil liberty and human rights; with the federal democratic electoral system for governing our constituents by the elected representatives from each constituent residence. We must transcend all impediments to create a flag of the nation, which can unit us all to serve the nation.

Current national flag of Nepal:

national flag of nepal

The national flag of Nepal (left) is the only non-quadrangular national flag, and one of only two non-rectangular official jurisdictional flags in the world (the other is the flag of Ohio). The flag is a simplified combination of two single pennants from different branches of the previous rulers, the Rana dynasty. The flag was adopted, with the formation of a new constitutional government, on December 16, 1962. The individual pennants had been used for the last two centuries and the double pennant since the 19th century.

The blue border denotes peace and harmony that has been prevalent in the country since the age of Gautam Buddha, who was born in Nepal. The crimson color is Nepal’s national color, and it indicates the brave spirit of the Nepalese people. The triangles do not represent Nepal’s mountains, but rather denote that Nepal is a Hindu Country. The red triangular flag has been a Hindu symbol of victory since the time of Ramayana and Mahabharata. The depiction of celestial bodies represents permanence, the hope that Nepal will last as long as the sun and the moon. The moon symbolizes that the Nepalese are soothing and calm, while the sun symbolizes fierce resolve. (source)

  1. I think we don’t need to change the flag. If change means beautiful all the time, it is not correct. Then we should go forward to change the name of the country and the capital. Let change the name of Kathmandu to Kantipur and it does not make the city clean. But we must change our attitude first.

  2. I think we should change of attitude before we are wasting our time and energy changing things which is just fine and also the proposed design smack of communist star. If we need to get rid of thing we must get rid of SPA and its terrorist father Maoist and it’s borrowed idea from POLPOT and HOXA (former Albanian leader which managed to turn Albania into poorest country in Europe). IF we are insisting on changes of symbol I propose to change our national Animal from COW to PIG ( I apologize to Pig if it feels offended) because we and our leaders behave like PIG and thrives on Filth,. ( literally in street and parliament) and National Bird to Crow ( again I aplogize to crow) since we thrive on waste thrown by others and lastly but not the least let’s also change our national flower to Poison Ivy. That will be great idea.

  3. What is wrong with our flag? It is the most beautiful flag and unique. I don’t believe changes on these things are necessary. It does not reflect any thing on autocracy. It describe all about the nature of we Nepali people.

The is more changes to be done with our attitude rather then changing the flags.

  5. ?? ?????? ???? ??? ? ?

  6. changing of the our beautiful flag is not neccessary. It is indeed the most unique flag in the world. Who gives a rat’s ass about its connotations? I certainly do not.

  7. what’s wrong with flag now? nothing is going to happen just by changing your outfit, but by taking a bath of yourself. if you really want to change everything, then why don’t you encourage to change the capital city first and so on later (like the name of our country n blah blah).

  8. Here we go again … another example of mediocrity in action! Nothing better to think or contribute, so why not yet another easy symbolism change? How about getting down and dirty, and fixing real problems like economy, education, health, trade and on and on …… what did you say? Those are too hard to do? Well, nothing came out anywhere with cheap rhetoric and easy symbolism. The writer may want to take note.

  9. In the end, we should change the name of the country…lets be creative and think about something else… Man, this is the height of absurdity.

  10. I agree with all of you, “idle mind is devil workshop” this blog only promotes these sort of activities in trying to destablise the harmony and social fabrication of the nepalese society.
The people has not even been able to live in peace with Maoist breaking the CPA one after another and the SPA sitting in luxury seats clapping their hand, whereas, the general nepalese are suffering.
Think what we can contribute to the nation in building a prosperous society of dignity and respect, not on hatred terms.
The Flag of nepal is the best flag ever and we should stand proud of it.

  12. I agree with everyone. Our flag is fine. A new flag will make it even harder for us to emotionally relate to our motherland.

  13. Where is this bom guy? Bomb him.

  14. Hey prabhu nepalese, what the fuck is wrong with us nepalese ?
we want to change the look of our history [ which is not possible ], we want to change how our landscape looks, we want to change the look of our currency notes , we want to change our monarchy and now we want to change the look of our flag. It seems we are a bunch of useless unemployed people who have nothing better to do than just create problems in our own lives. do something useful other than changing the look of our flag and currency. Otherwise we would be left without our flags.

  15. Why do people always want to change everything when things are going bad,do people think by changing things that symbolise our uniques and identify who we are,is going to make things better. This is the time to work together,to put our own individual interests aside for the good of the whole country. We should be looking at things that define who we are as a united people and country and use these things to build a solid foundation from which we can seek a brighter future for all of us.Our national flag is just one of these symbols,it defines who we are as a country,it represents our people our history and our future.

  16. come on now people, engage in proper sensible debate. There is no need to change the national flag of nepal, I think the author should change his name first. Who is this idiot!]

  17. What is wrong with being uniques. Already india is claiming that budha was born in India and china claims everest to be theirs. Let us not give this flag away aswell.

  18. Look Burma became Myanmar and Rangoon became Yangoon but these Burmese could not change their Military rule. In the international communities, they are hated. So what , There will be many Prachandas in future in Nepal who will talk about New Nepal but it is said that morning shows the day. Upto now, what he has given to Nepal ? Only abductions, murder, rape and killings of poor villagers of remote countryside in the name of Revolution. Actually, we came to know that they were agents of RAW in India. What a shame ?

  19. What the fcuk is going on here? Bunch of morons now want to change the flag, the most unique national flag of all! While we are at it, why not change the language as well, huh? How about Hindi? I’m sure that’ll make all the spaMMers delighted.

Bom is scum and this Shrestha bau-cha…who I believe is a die-hard pinko is just substituting the hammer and sickle with that white star-like thing! Get real dude!!!

  20. how bout changing the NAME of the country…for that matter??

  21. it would also be wise to change girlfriends, friends, relatives, wives, fathers….the list goes on…..

  22. Shree Shrestha - did a 5 year old kid design that flag you propose? Sure looks like it. While you are at it, why not change all symbols of the past.

For starters, change the national language from Nepali to English. Change the names of all 14 zones, all 75 districts, all cities. Change the names of all 25 million people in the country. Change the design of all clothes including daura suruwals and dhaka topis. That certainly should snap Nepal out of this wonderful mess we are in.

Your logic is so brilliant, I think I will paint my old Maruti car a different color and call it a Mercedes Benz from tonight. I expect to see a fine German car in my driveway in the morning.

  23. I think from the blogs so far,it shows that there is still people with decent common sense and not afraid to voice their options when stupidity rears it’s ugly head. Lets hope that Mr Bom and Shrestha are not planning to go into politics,if the do then God help us all !!!!!!

  24. ?? ?????? ????? ??, ?????? ????? ?????
    ????? ???????? ??? ????????????? ???????
    ????????? ??? ? ?????? ????? ????? ??? ??? ??????? ???????

    ????? ???? - ???????? ????? ??, ?????? ???????? ?????

  25. Think these two buggers got the “new flag” idea from communist Chinese or Soviet flags. What the fcuk is wrong with these guys anyway.

  26. This Bom is a real idiot. He is sitting at some starbucks in NY and comes up with all these ridiculous ideas sipping on his $3 latte. Someone really needs to give him a hard slap across his face - the kind that leaves a handprint.
    Idiot.

  27. Nepali People’s Rights Forum demands new flag.

This because this current flag gives hope to Hindu Fundamentalists - who like to turned Nepal overnight the Hindu State.

Otherwise, if one of the flag’s colors reaches the Buddha age then let it be the unique.

However, even after the declaration of Republic nation and new constitution that guarentee the civil liberty and civil rights of people Nepal will go through revolutions within revolutions in communities of ethnicities - Sarki marrying Damai, Damai marrying Bahun etc… that is still there…….. count on for next 20 years.

Brats of the UMB will get good sleep.

  28. Can we think beyond this?

Why do we have to waste our efforts in Changing the FLAG ? Its one of its KIND , and i am happy with what that is now!

  29. Hooina, kina jhanda fernu paryo vanya. Surukka desh ko economic growth ra aru bikash ko po kuro garaun. Din Dahade manish haru lai marna, goli hanna, loot paat garna banda gara na yaar pahila.

  30. we don’t need to change the flag . if yes then why not change the leadership which existed from such a long time then talk about changing flag , only changing name , and objects does bring the change that people want , but we need change in leadership thinking . Nepali flag is the best in the world

  31. As everything changing, you should change your sex. why not all nepali change sex.

  32. I am profoundly disappointed that anyone would suggest changing the national flag of Nepal. As an individual interested in the design and symbolism of flags, the Nepali flag is certainly one the most unique and beautiful. To suggest replacing it with the proposed flag would be an aesthetic crime. The track record of communist flags is one of the most embarrassing in all history, marked by stolid bureaucratic and authoritarian dullness. There is not one single communist flag which has any design merit to it.
Don’t aim to throw away all of the nation’s precious national symbols, just for hatred of an inept monarchy. Such desires end up destroying much of tradition which is worthy of preserving–Pol Pot proved the truth of this more than anyone ever did.
I only wish that Nepalis could have the same appreciation for their flag as the rest of the world readily does, for its beauty and natural symbolism, as well as its unique design. Concetrate on improving social issues, rather.

  33. flag pani chnage garne ho? la khatra kaam gardai chhau, keep it up! yo des ko naam pani change garnu parcha…k ‘nepal’ jasto boring naam halnu?. lets change it to sth else…hahaha…im going mad…dont laugh…cuz so are u…hahaha…

  34. lets change dinesh to minesh and wagle to pagale…hahaha..change everything….don forget to change your underwear….ahahaha. what am i saying….i luv this anarchy…flights of ideas….im luvin it…hahahah

  35. i even changed my name from name not reqd to no name reqd….whom shud i blame….pratigamiz…hahahaha…wagle is the man…i luv this guys attitude, its compatible with the color red….he specialises in finding problem in every solution…but wait, arent we all nepalese good at it…hahahaha….i often wonder if wagle ever reads those comments….then i say who damn cares….laal salaam folks….

  36. First give blowjob for me Mr Bomb and swallow it then only I will think about the flag!

  37. Dumb idea.

Actually, the dumbest idea I’ve heard. This guy Bom must either be a Royalist or a Maoist. Only they’re so dumb.

  38. Hey Bom!You never cease to amaze me. CHANGING THE FLAG? What made you think of that huh?Our flag is one of a kind-artsy and unique. So the forefathers made the flag based on “HINDU PRINCIPLE” as you claim. But I see the flag as a form of art.Your still stuck in the past and interpret our flag differently from most of my nepali brother and sisters.
Btw,What did you learn in Journalism?…Coming up with riduculous ideas is only ruining your already weak credibility. We should WORK TOWARDS changing what is IMPORTANT for Nepal to progress.

  39. Dears:

The flag of Nepal could be the only national UN member triangualar flag in the world. But that is what make the flag unique as unique is Nepal.
Please do not change it. It will destroy years of history, tradition and folcklore.
    B. Rgds - Gustav Tracchia - Argentine Society of Vexillology.

  40. Shake that A** for me, shake that A** for me… cmon Bomb ! You are a menace…open your mouth for four, five minutes……till I am finished…. yeah…… Your idea deserves this treat! Mr Bomb…Socket bomb!!

  41. I hope that you will not change the beautiful Nepali flag. I fly one here at my house from time to time, and it always looks splendid snapping in the wind!

    Peter Ansoff

President, North American Vexillological Association (NAVA)

  42. This will be the FLAG, see at

    http://freemadhesh.atspace.com

  43. I think present flag was stolen from Newars by Shah king of Gurkha, so was name Nepal. It is Newar Heritage. So it should be change to be acceptable to everyone. Change name of the country too if you like.

But presently purposed flag looks similar to one like Chinese flag. Please design national flag that does not look like Chinese or Indian.

  44. Change is good:
    1. Change from King to President
    2. Change capital from Kathmandu to Surkhet
    3. Change from geographical electoral boundary to ethnical electoral boundary
    4. Change from Bikram Sambat to Nepal Sambat
    5. Change from Kingdom of Nepal to People’s Republic of Nepal.

We already got rid of “Royal” from public domain. We have sidelined the King. We changed the National Anthem. We changed the insignia. It’s time to change the flag, too. Yes, our existing flag is unique. Proposed flag is adaptation from the existing flag: same color, same sun.

  45. No Nepal sambat. Use Gregory calendar if you want to change which is used all over the world.

  46. All the idiots who oppose the Maoists should be changed from living to dead
All other colors all over Nepal should be changed from something else to red
Zone of peace should be promoted again but as zone of filth and bloodshed
All Nepalis’ anatomy should be changed so that the ass becomes our head

To everyone who is worried about losing our uniqueness, I hope you agree that the changes mentioned above will certainly help us maintain our uniqueness.

  47. Let’s change everything,

    (1) Our national anthems and anything easy to change. What’s wrong having the world’s most unique flag ? Are Nepalese getting toooooooo much of democracy already. Can not image what will happen if so called Republic is in their hands. They might change the size of Nepal!! Oh yes, they will surely change that tight Daura Surwal to shirts and pants not-made-in-Nepal, and a whole bunch more…

Sign-boards saying only “Hindus are Permitted to Enter This Timple” will say “Come inside who ever you are!”

We might also change all our music that sounds like western beats to Nepali beats. We might as well make Indian Movies in Nepal, so we watch more of them!! Lets do all that easy to do… Forget about doing anything for which the the war started . ..

Let’s “Feed the Hungers”, “Get rid off Poverty” after doing all the easy stuffs..

One was sent to climb everest, he took a picture and went back to his country and said, see, here i climb the everest!

Trying to do all that’s useless is useless!

  48. Yes, bhupen flag is unique but was stolen by Shahs of Gurkha from someone else. You guys have kept it so far but can’t keep it forever.

  49. Just wastage of time. I don’t know why we Nepalese people are just wasting time for nothing. Lets think about developing Nepal. Nothing is going to happen changing our national flag. Now there is a trend that everything in Nepal should be changed. If this continues, one day someone will come and say “Hey now we need to change the name of our country, Nepal.” The country is becoming poorer and poorer day by day and people are busy thinking about changing nepalese flag and so on. So frustrating. Does not make any sense. What’s wrong with our national flag? Do you want to replace our beautiful and unique flag with some nonsensible symblo?

  50. Nepal ma Jana Andolan II pachhi yesto yesto nachahine kura baheka kenai bhako chha ra. Khoi kahile satbuddhi aune ho hami Nepali haruma. Sansar kata bata kata pugi sayko hami bhane jhan jhan tala khaski dai. Teso bhaye aba ta Nepal ko naam nai arko rakhnu parne bhayo ki kya ho. Machhe bahulauna thale pachhi ke ke hunchha ke ke.

  51. There should be the symbols of dead bodies, red river of flowing blood, people dying with hunger but carrrying rifles and guns, children with mal nutrition, people beggin on the streets, demonstrators and cops hurling stones and tear gas, broken heads of people. These images should be in the new Nepalese flag. Sounds good. Go for it. Once again, there is great chance of being Nepal flag popular in the world.

  52. Why people are raising such a stupid question? We don’t need change in the flag.

We need change in the attitude towards violence, Nepal bandh, chakka jam, afai tantra and politics in colleges.

We need a change from this Girija, Prachande, not the national flag. People just think that changing the name only will bring peace and republic in the country.

No way until and unless the people understanding towards how a country is led to the path of prosperity changing the name only is going to do nothing.

Lets take an example that changing the name of capital city kathmandu to something else won’t make the city clean or pollution free, nor the change in the name of Girija or other politicians will change their entire attitude.

This is just a b*ll sh*t matter or put on the blog and think also. Think in more constructive way rather then wasting brain in such a pathetic issue.

Yes, we should use AD instead of BS in the offices to be par with international community. But locally NS should be used.

  55. If Rukum, Siraha, Morang and Bhojpur is to be ruled by SPAM warlords, than we also say Hell with SPAM. We will separate ourselves from SPAMmers and they can do whatever they want with their part and we will take the real identity of Nepal.

Jai Rukum, Siraha, Morang and Bhojpur

  56. In the end, Magar, Tharu, Tamang, Newar, Rai, Gurung, Limbu, Sherpa and others will have their own flag. And there will be one National Flag different than the present two-triangular one. All interim in Nepal my proposal for the new flag is just Interim.
In the end, each and every Nepalese will learn one other local language to be able to communicate properly.
In the end, all the government officials will be required to learn the local languages to better serve the community they are posted.
In the end, there will be parliament in each and every district and Chief District Officers will be elected by the people of the districts.
In the end, THERE WILL BE NO KING IN NEPAL. Either He will go into exile voluntarily or He will be forced out.

  57. LOL. Read the above plan of Shree Shrestha and realise how practical can the SPAMmers think.

Anyway, I am happy with the struggle for the independence of Rukum, Siraha, Morang and Bhojpur

You all can do whatever you want.

  58. Everything needs a change in Nepal, the flag, the system of governance, the name of the country, the currency, the boundary of the all states, the name of rivers, mountains, the attitude of all people.
Change everyting and we may end up being like sikkim.

  59. This Topic is a BULLSHIT!!!

Hamro Main agenda nai diff. cha. We are for a mission to establish a TRUE DEMOCRATIC country. Tyasko laagi eutai kamm for the moment is PRachande n Gyan dubai lai thegan lagaune.

We the Nepalese ppl are really funny. We just waste time discussing the idiotic issue like changing the National Anthems and changin the flags. These are irrelevant at the moment. These issues gives diversion to the main issue and also dilutes the main theme.

Thus, I request you all to stop discussin’ regarding the change of flags, animals, birds etc. LEts all unite to fight against terrorism. Lets all fight against authoratarian rule.

Lest all get united to have a true democratic country.

    Democracy RULZ!!!

  60. Maoists will not accept the proposed flag because a hammer and sickle are missing. In the interim however, such flag may work. binash kale biparit buddhi. Articles like above reflect the madness that is taking over this nation.

  61. Nepal is going in the wrong direction. Nepal should be a Hindu kingdom with a Hindu monarchy or it will be a communist state. Why do the people have such hatred with His Excellency King Gyanendraa. His Divine Majesty is a nice person with good intentions.

professor from Harvard university, Cambridge, Massachusetts, United states of america.

  62. i agree with you harvard professor, but the king should be ceremonial like the one in England, Japan

  63. UWB: comment deleted

  64. The name of the “Nepali Congress” is also soon going to change into “Nepali communist congress” or “Nepali maoist congress”

  65. harvard professor (08:05:06) :

LOL. There are some dodos and reactionary powers in India and Nepal who support the SPAM warlords in their fight against Democracy/Monarchy (supported by all Nepalis) in Nepal. SPAM warlords are nothing more than terrorist dictator warlords. SPA sucks even more than M. SPA is the cause of the Problem.

  66. i think the person who wrote this article is a moron, thick in the head, looking for cheap publicity… think with your head, not your toes.. are you daft or what? the whole damn country has been shut down for such a long time.. there are no goods… transport trikes, jamadar strikes, my strike, your strike, schools closed, the economy is floundering, the people don’t have enough money to make ends meet.. the madhesis are creating a nuisance, the indigenous groups want their rights, the maoists want money to geed their cadres.. their cadres still roam around on the streets with their weapons.. hundreds of them have left their cantonments.. we don’t have a government yet.. the jtmm is calling for an armed rebellion.. we cannot repay our debts.. the bhutanese refugee problem remains unsolved.. there is no peace, there is no security, there is no normalcy.. AND ALL YOU CAN THINK OF IS COMING UP WITH A NEW FLAG? WHAT THE F***? are you crazy? it is because of asses like you sitting in kathmandu that the country is headed no where.. thick-skinned people such as you have time for this kind of crap while the rest of the country is headed to the dogs.. and after all this, one last question.. you say that the old flag was imposed upon the people.. what makes u think this will be acc3epted by all? even if girija and prachanda decide to use it, it will still be imposed on the people? what do you suggest now? have a referendum on whehter the old flag is good enough or needs to be changed?

UWB- i must add that you need to be selective about what you publish.. if you do not get articles of quality, there is no harm done in not publishing anything for a day, or even two or three… don’t give all this bullshit.. mornons

GET ROLLING FOR THE NEW FLAG

  70. Jai Nepal!

  71. I totally agree with sidhartha…there are people dying in parts of dolpa, nation is under crisis, terai is unstable and changing the flag could mean dividing the nation….there are more serious problems in Nepal…rather than the flag. The fact that people try to get publicity out of these craps is true….if you are worried about the nation so much..don’t try to cause any hazards…
i’m not a royalists nor a republican….i love my country so much and I still respect my old flag and still feel the blood rush..whenever I hear shrimaan gambhira….I don’t know if I will have the same passion for the new national anthem if it ever comes up…..

Changing national anthems and flags are just the part of dramas to get public attentions…just wipe all the assholes who make dirty decisions from the palace and the singha durbar….there is no need at all to change our national symbols….

—Either by the majority votes of the House of Representatives

—Or by the successful elections of the Constituent Assembly.

–New Democratic Nepal with the ‘Federal Democratic Republic’ will see the light for the New National Flag.

At this transition point this is just the headsup….

Time will come and it will be materialized for the ‘Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal’.

Now get rolling with NPRF to sweep out the royalists-brats who respond negatively and regressively towards the current political developments and hope of Nepali poeple.

  75. Nepali People’s Rights Forum: we have heard a lot about making Nepal the next Singapore, and the next Switzerland.

Tell us how. Tell us what you intend to do. Tell us what you get by changing the national flag. Tell us.

Don’t bark. Anyone can. By calling people brats, you don’t become angels.

Use your grey cells (if you have any). Tell us what we will get by changing out flag. Please do. How is it more important than the economy? Care to explain? How is it more important than the separatist problem in the south? Care to explain? NO.

Why NO? Because you cannot. You have no explanation. Don’t waste your time on this forum- go help people in distress.

It’s quite a feeling you know, seeing brats call other people brats.

An old adage goes, “people who live in glasshouses should not throw stones”. I’m sure you have heard it.

    duh

  76. when the country is burning and the country is in danger of breaking up into 20-30 new countries, we waste our time, precious electricity discussing what the flag should be.
The new countries (if formed) will have their own flags.
Lets put our energy and time to something more useful.

  77. Yo Bom, maybe you need to change your wife, or rather maybe she needs to change you. Take your head out of your arse. Flag is unique and we are proud of it.

  78. Mentally slugged ones cling to old flag.

Mentally blocked brain cling to old regimes status quo.

Time will come to change the flag.

How NPRF will make Nepal Switzerland:

    1. Nepali People’s Rights Forum will first help accomplish the CA elections that will guarantee the civil liberty and civil rights of people from getting violated by those mentally attached to the old regime’s traditional values and flag.

    2. It will help Restructuring the nation under Federal Governance Structures - that means people wil have electoral governance mechanism for their representatives to administer, legislate and provide justice from the most local level of government body to the Parliament. Ending the rule of feudal olgarchic systems nepotistic and favoristic family and politics practice.

    —-Nepal will have 5 states - Easter, Mid-east, West, Mid-West & Far-West.

    — States will have Muncipalities and Village assembly based on population
(There will be no district as they are now for CDOS to govern the people and CDOs are fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters of privilleged brats who oppose changes - regressive force and royalists all over the ground and online)

    — People will manage their Munipalities and Village Assemblies on their own through comptetative electoral procedures.

—-Only Federal Supreme Court Judges and Attorney general in Judiciary and law enforce will be nominated by the cabinet for the Parliament to appoint through hearing.

    — Rest of the State Supreme Court Judges and Attorneys will have to compete with through the democratic electoral procedures.

    — The Law Enforcement Officer of the State (Cheif Police) also will have to compete throught he democratic electoral procedures.

—-Through democratic decentralization under the Federal Governance System people will build Nepal on their on and eliminate the privilleged ‘Bahun, Newar’ brats supremacy over the nation.

Just as community forests are managed these days in Nepal with abundance of forest and revenue people of Nepal will manage the nation, develop the infrastructures of their village and towns.

THIS WILL ERADICATE THE PRIVILLEGED BRATS RULING POWER FROM THE NATION.

SONS OF GUNS WHO LIKE TO BUILD GRAND HOUSE IN KATHMANDU, LIKE TO HAVE SURVENT SLAVES FROM POOR FAMILY - THARU AND HAVE THEIR WIVES’ PETICOAT AND PANTY WASHED BY SEEKING APPOINTMENT OF THE PLACE OR THE POLITICAL LEADERS TO RULE THE DISTRICT.

YOU WILL NPRF WILL SOON SHUT THAT OFF

AND NEW FLAG WILL COME THEN AND THERE

  79. small brains, big talk

  80. Sons of CDOs - lokendra - will be dead meat by the time NPRF establishes the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

The blood ‘choosar’ will have no more blood of people to indulge their bratty like on the PC.

Go to pay the bill and no income easy.

We will wipe sons of CDOS, easily getting appointed by the politicians to the post era will come to end for ever.

If you need power go to serve the people in the villages and the municipalties of the federal states of Nepal.

    Big brain claimer lalk regressive

New flag will be raise upon the Sagarmatha - the Mt Everest

Get that to your half-dead head.

  81. Nepali People’s Right/Wrong Forum is nuts. An archaic revolutionary of the the pre-prone eras that dreams of a Bolshevik or Maoists sort of revolution in today dynamic and evolved world. Flag stays fool, until the “People” choose to change it via democratic elections.

  82. Sure, if our flag looked cooler, we’d be more prosperous.

  83. NPRF can go to hell, all you will need is a few crores of rupees waves at you and you too will wag your tail and bark as you are told to. Small co** big talk. Look at now how prachanda licking girija’s ass.

  84. no no bad thinking sir editor its gon be wrong

  85. What Nepali People’s Rights Forum wants is democrazy…not democracy.

Coz’ he is himself going crazy. His talk reminds me of Seung-Hui Cho, the person responsible for the Virginia tech shootings… I think this guy needs to go out more, interact more with real people more than wasting his time with his own prehistoric (which he assumes as revolutionary ) ideas. Go get some free air. You claim for NEpal to be more democratic under MPRF’s rule. Have you read how many people opposed the idea of changing the flag? And you threaten to turn them to dead meat. Such is your an idea of democracy.

Tell me what has the flag got to do with the way we think? Can we change our attitude by changing the flag.

  86. Yes Shree is right. We should change that trangular flag.It dosen’t reflect the true colour of nepalese. That flag dosen’t unite nepalese. It only reflects hindu nationalism. We people of limbuwan will not be hosting this trangular flag.

  87. i think instead of flag and faggy stuff like that we need to change our attitude and way of thinking. who the fuck gives a shit about a flag….i like our flag and you fags are assholes if you think that changing a flag will change anything….shame on you little cunts….sometimes i am ashamed of calling myself a nepalese coz of you little faggots……

think of changing nepal in a way such that it gains some admiration from the world community rather than scorn and pity. instead of sheeping after politicians think rationally and think what these politicians have done in the past.
if you think that we need to change the flag you have no artistic taste….
seriously i am ashamed of almost all nepalese……even myself sometimes….what the fuck are we doing with such a beautiful country like ours…..

  88. Our Flag is Unique. It must not change.
    Jai Nepal!!

  89. we have just come out of the term “new nepal” and now some smart guy is suggesting a new flag. why the fuck are these guys so concerned about a “new flag” a “new anthem” or a “new Nepal”. Whats wrong with nepal or the flag. WHY DO WE NEED A NEW NEPAL OR A NEW FLAG????? everything is fine with it, the only thing new we need is new and dynamic leaders, new economic policy, new infrastructure and everything that has got to do with developing nepal. Senseless political squabble have damaged Nepal enough. People who are living outside nepal and concerned,, thank you.. but we are here,,, in nepal…. facing uncertainty everyday. . we have a bigger concern than changing a flag.. changing a flag wont change anything here..

  90. what the fuck thing doing by Nepali politicians…… what they think of them and that Maoist leader who is what had he done till now just killing and rubbing Nepali citizens and what the hell grija parsad think of himself marne belama ke garcha kaam ………. all are bastard of Nepal and should be put in dustbin definitely. i

  91. FLAG OF OUR COUNTRY NEPAL IS UNIQUE.Y WE NEED TO CHANGE OUR FLAG.IF THESE PARTIES WANT TO CHANGE ANY THINK IN NEPAL THAN THEY SHOULD 1ST CHANGE THERE VIEW. THEY SHOULD STOP VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY NEPAL.THEY SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF MOIST N TERAI.
People those who are thinking to change the flag of Nepal are gone mad.we should send them to MENTAL HOSPITAL..These political parties instead of thinking how to bring PEACE in our country are thinking to change flag, anthem, color of currency.. Full form of our NEPAL was ” Never End Peace And Love” and now it became “Now End Peace And Love”.. We should bring Peace in our country n move our country in the path of development.

  92. IF ANY 1 WANT TO CHANGE FLAG OF NEPAL THEN 1ST THEY SHOULD CHANGE NAME OF MT. EVEREST,NAME OF COUNTRY N NAME OF CAPITAL …..WILL IT BRING PEACE N LOVE IN OUR COUNTRY. WILL WE B ABLE TO LIVE SAFE N SECURE LIFE WITHOUT ANY VIOLENCE. IF THESE PEOPLE WILL PROMISE THAT THERE WILL B PEACE IN OUR COUNTRY AFTER CHANGE OF FLAG OF NEPAL ,NAME OF COUNTRY N CAPITAL THAN THEY SHOULD. OTHERWISE THEY DON’T HAVE RIGHT.

  93. Its not the color of the ballon that makes it go up and up, its actually the thing what is inside the ballon(Hydrogen).
    same is here,
who cares if we change the flag or national anthem or coin. what really matters is what we are and how we live the life.
As William Shakespeare said:, whats there in the Name?? i want to ask these people..whats their in the name, design of flag, whats their in those old national anthem, whats thier in old coin, whats thier in the Logo.

its just a waste of time. instead they should use this time in sumthing creative.

  94. Chain, Chain , chain of fools. Whle you at it “better you change yourself” rather than even talk about change. Holy shit- how stupid people can get and offer free ride to 8 syndicate when it is quite evident that India with its hangover of British raj, their “colonial” attitude of divide and rule is applied for destruction of a sovereign nation. And so-called- MPs and even Maoist can bunk the running assembly to attend sermons from Indian Ambassdor and all is settled- just goes to prove “slave we are and how we have become”. Shame on us and day is not far when we cannot look in the eyes of our childrens.

  95. whoes idea is this…”DO SOMETHING THAT BEFITS YOUR LOYAL ATTIRE..”or be naked as ur brain is completely washed out..stupid maron …then come n do blog we respet u…..pls change the shape of ur brain…

  96. Let’s first ensure Nepalese get to fulfill their basic rights of livelihood, free speech, education, health, information, and communication. Once we’ve done that, we can always change whatever we want. Changing the flag, the national anthem, the national bird or whatever will not be significant if we still continue with the same old mindset.

  97. Who ever had the idea of changing this new flag? You have right to think about changing the old flag. It looks okey , but the old flag is 100 times better than this new flag. What makes different to u? U may have political problem mate!

I’m absolutely not agree with your new idea of changing it. Nepalese flag is one of the most beautiful, unique flag in the world.

  101. Dont even Thing to chech This Lovely Flag of nepal

  102. whenever i look the flag of nepal it always reminds me of the chandrabamsi and the suryabamsi rulers that ruled nepal.the red colour reminds the bloody battle that lasted for more than ten years killing thousands innocent nepali.it also reminds that it is the same flag that were used as emblem of the ancient indian states(as seen in ramayan n mahabharat).when i see its shape it reminds the condition of Nepal in world scenerio-as half free state.coz all other nations have their full size but nepali flag being of half of their size symbolizing its dependency in India
so i would support for changing the flag of nepal

  103. Guten Tag!
One guy todAY told me that it is not easy to NEPAL BECOME sWITZERLAND BUT IT IS EASY TO CHANGE SWITZERLAND INTO NEPAL.
    HOW? i ASKED
“Export SPA LEADERS TO SWITZERLAND, I SWEAR WON’T TAKE MORE THAN A WEEK”

SO if we want to change somehting to make new nepal nothing else we need to chane else our leaders.

  104. OMG!..wt da sh*t is dis now??….why need to change da flag yaar…hella sh*t…our flag is farrrrrrr unique n beautiful…no need too change the flag…bom or whoeva he is jus f**k of…wo r u too change the flag..jus pissed off yaar….in dat flag tht bom made is damn sh*t not nice….our current flag is wayyy more better…FOR GOD’S SAKE…dun change our flag into tht sh*t flag!!!….

  105. Hey Mr. Prakash,
Its a shame to say that you are a nepali. How long have you been staying in USA? I am sure, our flag is unique and pretty fine!
    gloomydusk@gmail.com
    Edmond

  106. Our flag is fine. Our government is what needs fixing.

  107. ??????? ????? ???? ??? ? ????? ????? ??????? ???? ???????? ???? ?? ??? ? ???? ??? ??? “??????” ?????? ?

  108. I love your unique and colourful flag - it is one of the best in the world! I visited Nepal a couple of months ago, and fell in love with the place. I know you have problems, but England has many problems too at the moment. If you change your flag you will forget your history - and also, your flag reminds me of a prayer flag a little - it looks very Himalayan.

I have a Nepali flag from Kathmandu hanging in my bedroom.

Peace and prosperity to Nepal. (One of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen, and I have been to many)

  109. Looks like a Vietnamese Flag. Monarchy or Not you people are still deciding for entire nation with out their consent. Who cares about what you think or what politicians think about the flag.
Why don’t you start caring about the people, the ongoing war, the life beyond Kathmandu, education?? Kicking out Miserable uneducated people from Governmental offices.
First of How could you let the criminal join the government, No matter what they promised they all killed our own people brutally both The Monarchy and the one against them. Peaceful Nature my A** here is a thought for the flag Red with bullet holes, people hung, abducted and a child eating off a garbage .

  110. who is this stupid sirish shrestha,
how he got right to propose flag of new nepal.

    it’s nearly similar to china(mao-comrade)flag
only red colour =sign of bidroh ,also with stars as china

instead more three small stars are missing instead of five.

go to hell sirish, you don’t know meaning of our flag,do u call urself nepali.if wann to propose dream flag ppl must accept without comment, write description of each colour, meaning, our falg carries meaning men.

please go through, nepali text book of class-nine
you will come to learn, even 12-curve(teeth)mentoined in our flags sun,and 8-curve(teeth)of our moon which is in our flag, has got meaning

also you will find meaning of blue lines and each colour and what it indicates

do not dare to take it as a joke.
    to change a flag.

  111. I think everyone is fan of change but they never think that change is good only if it is possitive ie change if lead new horizon of thinking n doing.
we changed our national anthems but it is not good even now, we further need to chage it ..
But national flag is good enough to reflact nepalese history, present n future .It is the best in the world n even unique that makes us praud too. So plz donot try to change it , otherwise i will fill shy to carry our flag in ny cap and heart. If you wanna change change yourself toward new world and new life.

  112. The only thing that doesn’t change in the world is change itself.

It’s true that Nepal’s flag is unique and each and every color and symbols in the flag have a deeper meaning behind it. It’s even bigger truth that Nepal needs to bring about changes in bigger things like its economy, health and education system and many more things before changing anything else like the flag of Nepal. But I still feel like everyone is being too emotional here.

Cause if we changed our country from the “only Hindu country in the world” to the “non secular” country and if we changed our national anthem then I don’t think changing our flag would be such a bad idea. Of course, we need to wait till Nepal becomes a real democratic country and it needs to be approved by the majority of people. However, I don’t like the flag proposed as a new flag of Nepal in this blog. We need to have a flag with deeper symbolic meanings than just a white star (or sun or whatever it is) in the middle of a red rectangle.

As a child we were taught that Nepal is the country of Buddha, Bhrikuti and Arniko; it’s the land of Mt. Everest, the land of peace, the only Hindu country of the world. Similarly, we were taught that we have the most unique flag of the world, the non-rectangular one. These are the lessons from our early childhood and we will never forget it. I agree with the person who mentioned earlier in the blog that even if our new national anthem is far better and more meaningful than the old one, it’s still hard to recite it as a national anthem. The reason is simple; the song we used to sing every morning in the school at the assembly line is the one that rules our un-conscious brain even today. But that should not and it did not stop us from changing the anthem to a new one. And the important thing is that the new generation is learning this new national anthem and by the time they grow up, this will be the only anthem that will rule the people’s heart and mind. The same thing will be true for our flag. If we change it at the beginning phase of democratic Nepal, we (from this generation) won’t ever be able to accept it as our national flag, but the new generation will. And by the time they grow up, that will be the only flag of Nepal.

While building the New Nepal lets think about the new generation, because it will take years to recover from the damages caused in the past decade and then again years to bring it to a new height.

  113. I love the nepali Flag, the only thing that need to cange is the corrupt government. Dear Mr. Shresta your “new” Flag looks like the Chinese and it stinks.

  114. u r insane dude

  115. u gotta change ur name before u change the flag … i think u shld even go to the mental hospital for the check up

  116. is that the uml sign? or is it a half witted chinese flag? or is it turkish? or is it a flag of a football team? it’s a sad attempt - if you really need to chage the flag please suggest something that is more worthwhile - otherwise it is a waste of space.

besides the current flag is beautiful . so what if it is made by a king - a king did make nepal. do we wipe out history as well, wher is our sense of national pride? Even people from darjeeling dont want our symbols changed as they identify more with it then indian flag and symbols - it gives them nepalese identity.

  117. Let’s draw the raising fist of pracanda .haaaaaaaaaaa!

  118. In that case following things need to be considered?
    1. Chaning the geometry of flag? And why?
    2. What essentials do we need to add up in the flag and why? Or do we need to wipe off something?
    3. Changing the colours and why?

    My answers are:
    1. Triangular shape is the uniqueness of our flag. Why change it.
    2. We need sun and moon both because they demostrate our temperament i.e. hot when required and usually cool like the moon. Why make the flag messy by adding any other things.
    3. We have three colors in our flag: red depicts our passion and bravery of Gurkhaz. Blue shouws our patience and white means peace. Now if we add up more colour then our flagz gonna be “Jhilke” so lets not do it.

Conclusion: This flag is Ok> We just need a new Nepal and that’s all.

  119. Question to Nepali People’s Rights Forum:
Dude, are you being satirical or are you serious? You write so strongly, I’m confused. I have not read such strong article from anyone except, say Khagendra Sangraula…
People don’t panic. I’m sure they brought out the topic just to generate concern(or traffic). AS far as I know, there is absolutely no sane and logically-thinking person who can think of changing the flag, save for the Late Dr. Harka Gurung, may his soul rest i peace…

  120. Halla garnay haina hai tyo Nepali People’s Rights Forum wala mitra.

The flag represents Nepal, it represents us We will not tolerate having it changed. Nepal does not need plastic surgery. Remember that !!

  121. what?? now the flag too??? its the most unique and beautiful thing i’ve ever seen…don u dare touch it!
    “rato ra chandra surya” …always…

  122. sorry to tell you this ,
flag will be changed at any cost, however butiful it is may be.
    However you all love ,
We are maoists we love only some thing which is alian (chainese, soviat etc).
we will even change our mother if she dont changes her sarry to red .
we will change every thing .
this blog will be changed bcoz maoism will be known to world by u guys.
we will chnge narayan hati to “”tiangmen squer “” its just matter of time please watch .

  123. the flag is unique dont change it

  124. I don’t know why we have to change the flag. Let it be like that and it has good meaning too and it’s unique. Instead of wasting time on changing flag why don’t we work together now for the developement of our nation and the people of nation. All the other countries samll countries are developing faster then us. Now we have all right to built our own nation in better way.

  125. Change the Flag of NEPAL!!!… man.. khai may b its needed, but for me personally.. i don’t think it sud.. and for surely.. not to wat is given above.. tht looks like a FLAG OF A COMMUNIST country.. i thot we were headin for a demo rep. i ain’t a commie man..!!!

i read some of the Replies.. dint’ she anyone explain the meanin of our flag…
    let me try…

    THE COLORS
RED - because crimson is the national color
    BLUE- denotes peace and harmony

THE MOON… and THE SUN —so tht nepal will live as long as the sun and moon

also MOON - represents the cool hills
and SUN - the hot TARAI (I am from tarai )

    the triangles represent the mountains…

the only draw back i think is ….. the triangle shape is also associated with the victory flag for hinduism…..

  126. Nooooo NEedd To Change …..First Change Our Attitud…………………….

  127. after all i like to change the name our country.why not we CHANGE our country as a name of “EVEREST”It seems very sense and we change the better flag later on.think it up..bye

  128. please comment on this variation of the current flag.. remmber nepal must not use a standard rectangular flag, that is to conform to the imperial/capitalist ship merchant banner waivers, forefathers would role in there graves since no1 got a chance to burn many..

  129. what’s wrong with our brothers.
    changeing flag doesn’t change things.
we must be united to develop our beautiful country rather than doing nonesense things like changing flages or being supersitious. changing flag don’t change things.
And to be honest our flag is beautiful as the way it is.
I afraid fools like you guys who is trying to earn names by changeing flag will increase the pain we are suffering.

  130. CHANGE IS WHAT WE NEPALI PEOPLE WANTED FOR so if you want to make Nepal a new Nepal we will want to CHANGE. So let us start with our attitude, our thinking, our way of life, our discipline, our stubbornness, our commonsense. If one cannot bring changes in these areas and keep hanging on the same old behavior then how can one expect to build a new Nepal. It would be the same Nepal in different mask. LET US REALLY BUILD A NEW NEPAL. LEAVE THE FLAG ALONE

EDUCATE ALL NEPALI BUT PLEASE TEACH THEM SOME COMMONSENSE AS WELL

CHANGE REQUIRED IN THESE AREA AS WELL

    1. CAPITAL OF NEPAL - DANG VALLEY
    2. INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - BHAIRAHAWA
    3. NAME KATHMANDU AS HERITAGE CITY

  131. God Bless Nepalese people who have nothing but such useless ideas in their vacant mind. Tel ra chamal napayera manchhe ko jyan jana aati sakyo yaha lai chhai FLAG ko chinta chha bro.

  132. Please people of Nepal. i beg of you NOT to change our FLAG!! it is the most beautiful thing that us nepalese have and its unique and the only thing that separates us from rest of the world. Rectangle shape is just boring + the red flag with the star on the top corner is just wayyyy tooo flat. it seems like we are going backwards instead of forward… If it do needs changing, then dont change the triangle shape. After Mt. Everest, it is the only pride that we hv to tell the world tht we are unique in our own way. This is our identity. Without it, Nepal wont b Nepal. it doesnt symbolize royalty, it symbolizes Nepalese peoplez pride. so pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee dont change it~!! I HATE OUR NEW FLAG ;( yuckkkkkkkkkkkk

  133. reply to maowadi dai:
why r u saying that U guys will change Nepal. we gave u votes so that u listen to us nepalese ppl and improve our country.. tyo khoobai leader jastai kura garney hoina hai sathi.. tetikai prachanda gunda lai jitayeko hoina hamile

  134. Nepali rights people forum PLEASE dont concentrate on ur hate for royalist. Instead concentrate on improving tyo sadak ma basne balak balika, concentrate on tyo chapro ma ek chak khana dhau dhau parne nepali ko choro, conentrate on making nepalese pplz lives easier, concentrate on making nepal a beautiful and clean country… bujhis!!

  135. Whoever wrote this is a complete fool……wat nepal needs is change………but not change in the flag or the national animal, color, flower….that’s very funny……we want nepal to be developing not the somalia of asia. The country fractured and destroyed by maiosts has given the opportunity for them to build the nation of their wildest dreams, so instead of breaking ur head to change the unique flag of the world if this person used the same time and energy to give the rebellions some suggestions on how to build nepal
