The fifth day of General Strike repeated the similar story of curfew defiance, clashes, black-out and police ruthlessness
[9:00PM] There was blackout for fifteen minutes. At Asan and Chhetrapati area, as blogger Tilak Pathak witnessed, a group of people rallied chanting anti-monarch slogans while police were seen urging people to turn on lights. Most didn’t.
At Naya Bazaar, Shorakhhute, people were whistling and chanting slogans as the area also observed blackout. At Kaushaltar area too, demonstrators rallied urging people for blackout.
Meanwhile the state has extended the curfew hours for the night in Kathmandu and Lalitpur. Now the curfew starts at 10:00pm and continue upto 4:00am.
[4:00PM] Blogger Ujjwal Acharya witnessed a police ruthlessness himself at Kaushaltar where a group of security men including two army men kicked on the door of a house on his neighborhood. They showed a little kindness after the women pleaded them not to do so and they left warning the women that ‘the men should not do it again.’
Then a group of policmen patrolled the area on a jeep under the police inspector. Two people who were out on the road entered their workshop. The jeep halted infront of the workshop and policemen entered the area asking six workers their, who were resting, to show their hands. One was probably working and his hands were dirty. The police then beat him up, charged baton to others. The ruthless act went on for more then five minutes before the police finally left happy after beating ‘the innocent workers’.
[1:30PM] At Kirtipur, the famed agitation hub, dohori geet (duet song) on the theme of loktantra is going on now. A mass meet is also taking place there. Similarly, at Chabahil, Kalanki and Gongabu, protesters have defied the curfew and are chanting slogans.
[11:00am] Early morning I went to see around Kaushaltar, Ghatthaghar and Lokanthali. People were confused about curfew and there were a few public vehicles on the road and occassional patrolling by police van but no police was stationed.
It didn’t last long as the demonstrators gathered and started making fire on the road and blocking the road. In absense of security it was easy and without any fear. By 9:00am, there were fire and blockade in at least four places between the one kilometer area and demonstrators were chanting slogans.
The curfew started from 11:00am. I am not still clear whether there is curfew or not in the area. I could see deserted road and occassional patrolling but most of the people are staying at home.
I went to see my friend who was injured in yesterday baton charging. He was rushed to Bir Hospital at night and returned at 2:00am this morning. He needed 8 stitches on his head. He told me that the policemen who beat him were all drunk.

stop romaing around places and collect news of people getting beaten or even killed. go and check the leaders at their homes and see if they are committed to lead the nation out of crisis, check to see if they have apologized to the almighty and asked for forgiveness for the deeds they committed in the past.check and see if they have prayed the lord to grant them wisdom.
Media in my opinion has a great power, but if it only focuses on one side of the issues they can divide the whole nation.
Yes! I’m the injured person, when I was area of my living home around 8:15 o’clock.
Around 10-15 DRUNK policemen were came and started to beat including me and I seriously injured and they beat me in my head, hand, leg etc.

We need DEMOCRACY no doubt about that. It is just a matter of time when we will get it.
AS “unknown101” said, wat are we going to do with these leaders. who is cheering up in their home. They have just said SORRY for the people which is not enough.
If political parties needs support of people start investigating in their own party and punish the culprit.
But i don’t think it will happen because 99.9% of them are corrupted.
After democracy how they will run the govt???

Nepal and Thailand have the some great spiritual masters. But in Thailand soldiers and policemen feel ashame if they hurt their own people. In Nepal??? Have soldiers and policemen become robots?
